The Harlingen High School Marching Band is comprised of students from the six concert bands, and the colorguard whose auditions are open to the entire student body. The marching band meets in the Fall on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Parents and friends heavily attend outdoor rehearsals every evening during the Fall. Auditions for the marching band are held in May, with summer band camp beginning in late July. Summer band camp includes sectionals, marching fundamentals, and full ensemble rehearsals.

In addition to Friday night football games, the marching band travels across the state to compete in various festivals and competitions. The band was awarded the Grand Champion’s award at the prestigious Austin Westlake Marching Festival in 2002. The marching band has also won the Grand Champion title at numerous other marching festivals including the Coyote Marching Festival in La Joya, the Delta Marching Festival in Edcouch-Elsa, the Donna Marching Championships, the San Benito Marching Championships, the NISD Marching Championships in San Antonio, the Bear Band Classic Championships, the Valley View Marching Band Championships, and the Crossroads Marching Festival in Robstown. The band has been a finalist at the Bands of America Marching competition in San Antonio, TX, finishing as high as 6th place Overall and 2nd place in Music Performance. Harlingen HS also won its first Regional Championship at the RGV Bands of America in 2005. The band has received straight First Division ratings 1997 to present at the University Interscholastic League marching contest, and has advanced to the UIL Area and State Marching Contest every time since 1998.

The Harlingen High School Band program is proactive in attending Drum Corps International functions including clinics, rehearsals, and performances. The HHS band prides itself in modeling it’s marching style after the Drum and Bugle Corp. In the fall of 2004, 2014 the Harlingen High School Band received new uniforms designed by Michael Cesario.
